Blue Sky Creative brings augmented reality to Zodiak MIPCOM catalogue

Blue Sky Creative uses augmented reality to bringZodiak'sMIPCOM catalogue to life

Kent-based online solutions provider Blue Sky Creative has published a new case study of its work for Zodiak Rights to showcase how augmented reality (AR) can bring real wow factor to exhibition stands and catalogues. Seewww.blueskycreative.co

Zodiak Rights is a market leader in the worldwide distribution of television programming. With popular dramas such as Wallander, starring Kenneth Branagh, and hit formats such as Location Location Location, it needs to make the right impression at the TV industry's most prestigious show, the annual MIPCOM event in Cannes organised by Reed MIDEM.

Zodiak engaged Blue Sky Creative to bring their MIPCOM catalogue to life with a custom-built AR app. Pointing an iPad at static images in the catalogue triggered promotional videos, so buyers could see what they were getting as well as reading about it.

Holly Kemp, Marketing Executive at Zodiak Rights, commented:"Blue Sky Creative's augmented reality app gave our MIPCOM brochures real creative edge. It was our first time using AR technology, the sales team found it easy to use and, most importantly, it helped to improve our buyers' experience."

Patrick Kydd, Head of Digital Solutions at Zodiak Rights, added:"I was very impressed with what Blue Sky Creative created and delivered to a rather tight deadline. The app itself contained over 200 of our latest promos and played faultlessly throughout the market. We will definitely be looking for more ways to work with Blue Sky Creative in the future."

Paul Houlton, Managing Director at Blue Sky Creative Ltd, said: "Zodiak had glossy catalogues and great videos so AR was the perfect way to link them up. Using the iPad's camera and the image recognition software in our app, the salespeople could launch video clips directly from the hard copy catalogues.

"As well as being a useful sales tool, the AR technology is quite impressive. Buyers were interested in how it worked, were immediately more engaged and spent longer on the Zodiak stand. By providing a bridge to rich digital content, AR breathes new life into good old paper catalogues. We are also working on some exciting new projects which involve triggering off 3D objects such as famous London buildings."
