Abacus Manufacturing Group impresses interior designer, Linda Barker

The extensive refurbishment of a barn conversion in Yorkshire recently saw Linda Barker, the interior designer and TV presenter, turn to Abacus Manufacturing Group for help creating a bespoke, fully equipped steam room, an en-suite and two WCs.   

Linda Barker and her client were keen to create a contemporary, rich and seductive look that would contrast with the exterior red brick of the old barn. Having visited a trade show and been immediately impressed by the services and products Abacus Manufacturing Group could offer, Linda briefed the Abacus design team on the project.

The bespoke steam room forms part of the guest en-suite and the Abacus team designed a tiled bench and separate shower area using wall boards and a purpose-made showertray from the Abacus Elements range. These productsarewaterproof,durable,lightweight, easy to handle and cut, and offer good insulating properties.

The steam room and en-suite area includes sanitaryware and accessories from Abacus Manufacturing Group's Ben de Lisi range and colour-matched furniture, made to order using Abacus' bespoke joinery service. The brassware is from the Abacus Vessini range and consists of modern chrome brassware including concealed shower valves, a fixed head and hand-shower set. A Ben De Lisi wall hung pan was fitted using an Easi-Plan WC frame to achieve a seamless, minimal look.

An Elements shower tray and wall boarding was used to refurbish an existing en-suite. Brassware includes a Vessini Easi-Box 200 thermostatic shower/diverter valve, shower head and a hand shower set. A Vessini hinged door serves the shower while Easi-Plan and Ben De Lisi WC products were again employed. Easi-Plan frames were also used in two WCs but with Vessini Opaz wall mounted pans.
