Amicus Building Products expands reach with new acquisition

Fast-growing Amicus Building Products has added plastic building supplies specialist Nu Stock Ltd to its portfolio.

The acquisition by Amicus, better known as the holding company of PVC building and insulated glazing products distributor Magden, will double the company’s branch network.

Nu Stock, like Magden, specialises in selling PVC building products through a network of branches in Northern England and Scotland. Crucially, Nu Stock has an online shop, giving it a UK-wide reach.

Amicus managing director Nick Friend explained that Nu Stock’s regional footprint and online trading arm had been key to the acquisition.

He said: “Nu Stock branches will significantly add to our geographical reach. The acquisition instantly enhances the service and products we can offer and means existing customers of both Magden and Nu Stock will benefit from a wider network of branches as well as having the ability to order supplies online.”

Nu Stock has six branches in Stockton On Tees, Hull, Barnsley, Paisley, Washington and Darlington.

It comes after a period of significant investment and growth for Magden, which last year opened its fifth branch in Blaydon near Newcastle, and this year completed refurbishing all of its other branches.

In autumn 2014 Amicus also acquired County Durham-based Décor Cladding Centre, which has led to decorative cladding being added to the stock list of all Magden branches.

This combined network takes the ownership of Amicus Building Products to 12 branches serving the specialist PVC building products market across both the North of England and Scotland, and two online shops catering to the wider UK.
