Legendary cameraman Geoff Tompkinson has announced that his next Timelapse & Hyperlapse Workshop will be held at the prestigious International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York from 12-14 June.
A World Press Photo award winner in 1985, Geoff's day to night transitions have appeared on hundreds of TV shows and in major Hollywood movies. The first person to produce digital timelapse for Getty, he is the world's leading expert on hyperlapse. Seewww.geofftompkinson.com/hyperlapse/
Fresh from shooting hyperlapse of the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Dubai, forMirror Mirrordirector Tarsem Singh, Geoff is keen to pass on his unrivalled knowledge of timelapse techniques.
Geoff Tompkinson commented: "Hyperlapse takes merging time and motion to another level. Whereas timelapse is usually shot from a fixed position, hyperlapse enables you to move huge distances and do all sorts of cool things, like spinning around buildings, while also speeding up time.
"Our first Getty-endorsed Timelapse & Hyperlapse Workshop in Istanbul last summer was a huge success, attracting everyone from amateur stills photographers to seasoned video professionals. As a result, we've got more planned for this year, starting with New York in June. I see them as holidays with new friends in the greatest cities in the world.
"We start with classroom-based training covering all aspects of timelapse, from the basic principles of the moving image, right up to complex multi-pivot-point hyperlapse moves. Then we head out into the city, with great access to some iconic locations, to put these skills into practice. Once we've shot some amazing footage, we look at post production and the elements of Adobe After Effects best suited to hyperlapse sequences."
For ongoing training, the Timelapse & Hyperlapse Workshop includes six months' access to Geoff's online Timelapse University, featuring all the post production modules and membership of a private Facebook group for discussions with Geoff and fellow course attendees.
