ESSEX CHEF BROTHERS KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY
AnEssex-based and trained chefhas joined a top City of London restaurant as head chef, working for his older brother, who is the executive chef!Chamberlain's Restaurant in Leadenhall Markethas announced the appointment of James Jones, younger brother of executive chef Andrew. Jones younger trained at Chelmsford College and, like his sibling, honed his skills at Claridge's. Most recently James has been head chef atYe Olde White Harte Hotel in Burnham-on-Crouch, but his career also includes head chef roles at The Royal Corinthian Yacht Club and the Contented Sole fish restaurant.
The brothers, whose father is also a chef, come from a catering family; their parents, who live inSt. Lawrence, met while working atThe Contented Sole in Burnham on Crouchin the early 1960s and were married there.
James has worked with Andrew on a number of previous occasions and is well acquainted with Ally Dale, who heads up the outside catering and events side of the Chamberlain's operation - they also worked together at Claridge's.
"Our outside catering business is flourishing," said Andrew Jones, "and it has become evident that we need to have two separate head chefs, one for each side of the business. And who better than James, an ex colleague of both Ally's and mine?"
