News release for immediate use
Write, Shoot and Edit a short film in 48 hours
Shortfilm48 - now open for registration
Now in its third successful year ‘shortfilm48' (SF48) the brainchild of Tom Middleton, managing director of smnfilm based in Shropshire is open for entries at http://shortfilm48.com/
This years competition is asking filmmakers to get outside and use the great outdoors as their setting and includes fantastic prizes and a judging panel list that includes the ‘who's-who' in film making including Jeremy Boxer (Vimeo), Vida Toombs (Vice) James Mullighan (Cork Film Festival) Elliot Grove (Raindance Film Festival), Matthew Evans (Director) Paddy Bird (Editor) Steve Hunt (Abundant) and Paul Higginson (20th C Fox)
The difference with this years SF48 is that the competition entry is completely ‘on-line' and as such opens up the whole of the UK, Europe and overseas.
SF48 are also raising the awareness of their ginger haired friend and fellow filmmaker Heather Leach who is suffering from rare and chronic conditions, some of which remain undiagnosed. Her friends and family have rallied round and created the ‘Ginger Army Charity Campaign' to help raise much needed funds for her to be treated by world leading medical specialists.
Tom Middleton commented, "We decided this year to raise the bar and invite people to register online to broaden the geographical entries, and also to enable us to raise the plight of our very good friend Heather - you can learn more at http://www.gofundme.com/heatherleach
"As a film maker, one of your greatest challenges is time.
"We put the film makers to the test by briefing them in, then starting the clock - where they will only have 48 hours to write, produce, shoot and deliver their film.
"By using the glorious outdoors as a canvas and their personal talent and passion to drive their creativity, the sky, the earth, the rivers and trees can all be used to create the magic that will enable their story to be told.
"Our 2015 prize package is designed to nurture and develop the technical and creative skills of filmmakers and anyone over the age of 16 can enter.
"All SF48 participants must donate £5 to the Ginger Army campaign leaving the hashtag (#SF48) as a comment on the donations page, and then register on the SF48 website to be included in the 2015 competition."
