CECA's Election Comment

Comment on election from CECA Southern

8 May 2015

The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) is the representative body for companies working day-to-day to deliver, upgrade and maintain the country's infrastructure. Commenting on the news that a Conservative Government is heading towards a majority, Alan Taylor, Executive Director, CECA (Southern) Ltd says:

"The last five years have seen a steady push to improve the way infrastructure is managed through visibility of investment and workloads. This has created long term certainty, allowing for investment in skills, equipment and innovation, reducing delivery costs and making savings for the taxpayer.

"It is now imperative that an incoming Government recognises the importance to the market of maintaining long term certainty for, and fully commits to, the existing project pipeline.

"We look forward to working with the new Government to build on this and continue to deliver the infrastructure the UK needs for economic and social growth."

Notes to Editors

The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) is the representative body for companies working day-to-day to deliver, upgrade and maintain the country's infrastructure. CECA acts as a conduit between industry and government, working on behalf of infrastructure providers who employ up to 200,000 people in the UK, delivering work worth around £15 billion every year and carrying out around 70-80% of all civil engineering activity in the UK in the key sectors of transport, energy, communications, waste and water.

CECA Southern represents civil engineering contractors of all sizes across the southern region. Membership provides access to information, advice and assistance on a wide range of issues identified by contractors as essential to promote and protect their commercial well-being, as well as an opportunity to input priorities into regional policy-making.
