The Magna Carta Embroidery has just launched its dedicated website www.magnacartaembroidery.com. On the website you'll find information about where you can see the panels, what the panels are about and you can also buy Magna Carta Embroidery merchandising, including tea towels, post cards and other memorabilia.

The website will also tell you more about Rhoda and the team behind this incredible twelve-panel embroidery which is currently on tour throughout the country as part of the celebrations for the 800th Anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta.

"This is such an exciting time and launching the website is another part of this incredible project. After three years of all most non-stop work the panels are now complete, all framed and are going around the UK on tour", says Rhoda Nevins who designed and embroidered the panels.

To find out more about where you can see the Magna Carta Embroidery please have a look at theeventspage on the new website. Next stop London, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Barnes Church Magna Carta Festival, London, Surrey and more. You can also book events through the website too

The Magna Carta Embroidery panels were commissioned by Runnymede Council and designed and created by Rhoda Nevins, a member of the Royal School of Needlework. The panels tell the story of how the barons persuaded King John to agree to Magna Carta, arguably the most important legal document in our history, laying the foundation for justice and freedom, not only in this country but throughout the world.

This historic document was the first to establish the principles that even a king must - like his subjects - obey the law, and that punishment without trial is wrong. Since the 13th Century it has continued to underpin legal systems across the world and is still relevant today, forming the basis of the constitutions of countries such as the United States of America, Australia, Canada and India.

The Magna Carta Embroidery will be on display throughout the country as part of the Magna Carta 800 anniversary events and are intended to create a lasting legacy to the country in honour of one of the most important historical events in our history.

Rhoda has designed the panels to depict the events that led up to the sealing of the Magna Carta in Charter Towns throughout the UK. Each Magna Carta Trust town will have its own panel, these include Runnymede, Bury St Edmunds, St Albans, the City of London, Canterbury and Hereford. Five other panels will depict how the Magna Carta influenced the spread of law and order throughout the world from 1215 to the present day, with panels for America, Canada, Australia, India and South Africa. There is an additional panel comprising all the shields of the 25 barons who were present at the sealing.
