York ice cream business appoints Commercial Manager

Yorvale, York's only real dairy ice cream manufacturer, has announced a major step forward to expand its market position with the foundation of a dedicated national sales team. The appointment of Tim Robinson as Commercial Manager is the first stage of this development.

"Yorvale has grown since the days when Lesley and Ian Buxton used to travel around the country selling their homemade ice cream," explains Tim Robinson, "to a point where the company needs a dedicated sales team. I am the first part of this initiative and it is my responsibility to drive the sales and growth and, ultimately, build a team which can facilitate and sustain the levels of development which the company has already seen and forecasts for the coming years."

Ian & Lesley Buxton began Yorvale in 1989 from humble beginnings on their 80 acre Yorkshire farm, making the ice cream themselves throughout the week and then travelling with their young children around the county on the weekends, selling their ice cream from mobile units.

"Appointing Tim is a major and very necessary move forward for us," explains Ian Buxton. "Thanks to grants from Yorkshire Forward in recent years, we have doubled the floor space of our warehouse and manufacturing areas and put in new cold rooms. This means that we can already make up to 1200 litres of ice cream every hour, as well as our sorbet and frozen yoghurt ranges."

33 year old Tim, who lives in Hutton-le-Hole, is delighted to join Yorvale at a very exciting time in its history and said: "Despite the growth Yorvale is still a family business with the same ethos and culture that has made it so successful over the last 26 years. It's exciting for me as they are now really ready to push on even more, and this fits with my ambitions for my career. I believe I am at the start of something both really exciting for me personally and for Yorvale as a company."

Prior to joining Yorvale, Tim Robinson was a National Account manager at Fresh Direct.
