WOLSEY LODGES ADDS TO ITS COLLECTION
Nine new properties - from Scotland to Cornwall - have already been added to the Wolsey Lodge collection this year and there are more in the pipeline, reportsWolsey Lodges. It is the UK's original and most prestigious group of homes offering top-notch B&B, and in many cases also an evening meal by prior arrangement.
The new properties include: two manor houses; a former residence of the 9thDuke of Athol; an original Somerset Long House; a former bakery; a rectory and a Victorian keeper's cottage; a Georgian Grade II listed townhouse and an Edwardian country house. All offer either en suite or private bathrooms, fine linens and superb food, much of it produced by the owners themselves or locally sourced. They are all listed under the ‘DiscoverNew Wolsey Lodges' section on the website.
"Wolsey Lodges is the forerunner in terms of luxury B&B," says Robin Clough, chairman of this not-for-profit marketing organisation, "We were founded nearly 35 years ago and have long been one of the best-kept secrets of the travelling cognoscenti. We have always had the strong ethos that the welcome received by guests is one that a friend would receive - and a stay that charms and exceeds expectations."
Standards are very high and all members have to meet stringent criteria set up by the group. Each one is carefully vetted and the house inspected to ensure that it meets the group's exacting standards. "There has always been something rather special about the type of guest who enjoys staying at Wolsey Lodges," adds Clough, "and this takes Wolsey Lodges into a different league from most B&B organisations."
