ONLY 6 MONTHS TO DEADLINE
The ESOS clock is ticking. With only 6 months to go until the 5 December deadline, companies must get on with their ESOS compliance or risk heavy fines.
Darryl Mattocks, Managing Director of leading energy management company, Enistic, is urging businesses to make sure they get on with the work needed to submit their ESOS reports to the Environment Agency by 5 December.
He said: "With only 6 months to go, there are still businesses out there that need to comply with the ESOS regulations, but which haven't made a start or even some which don't even know about the scheme yet. There is going to be a last minute scramble as the deadline approaches.
"For many companies there is a lot of work to do and not a lot of time. Typically compliance can take 2-4 months to organise. For some companies with a lot of data to collate, or with complex energy consumption or transport operations, it could be a lot more.
With a limited number of Lead Assessors to work with, there will be increasing pressure on finding one with the time to do the job. Companies must make a start."
Darryl is a qualified ESOS Lead Assessor and he warns, "There are only just over 700 qualified Lead Assessors to work with the 13,000 plus organisations that need to comply with the Regulations."
Enistic provides a Lead Assessor as part of the company's Easy ESOS scheme which offers a guaranteed route to compliance. The company handles the data, reporting and submission to the Environment Agency and is already working with several organisations including Alan Bartlett & Sons, beef suppliers to Waitrose; the Orion Group, recruitment specialists for the engineering sector; and the Original Tour London sightseeing tour.
Recently The Environment Agency sent out second letters to organisations that qualify for ESOS.Organisations which miss the deadline risk fines of up to £50,000.
