Gaia Climate Solutions has supplied its DEVImat super-thin underfloor heating (UFH) system and wireless thermostatic controller system, the DEVIlink, for a major residential development in London.
DEVImat is an electric UFH system comprising a slender heating cable pre-spaced onto a self-adhesive mesh that is installed within a tile adhesive or latex compound.
The prestigious riverside development in south-west London, selected this system to use under the stone floors in all the bathrooms, offering a comfortable source of heat that provides quick heat thanks to being embedded just below the surface of the floor.
As an extra luxury touch, DEVImat has also been installed behind the marble wall-tiles to provide warmth and drying behind towel rails and robe-hooks. Elsewhere in the apartments, a wet conventional UFH system has been installed within the floor-screeds. The systems are all controlled by Gaia's wireless DEVIlink thermostatic controller, a central unit discreetly tucked away in a utility cupboard.
This communicates with a network of DEVIlink flush-mounted sensors, one of which is located in each room. "The flush mounted sensors are fixed into recesses in the dry-lining and then covered with a plaster skim," explains Gaia sales manager, Joshua Demetrescu.
Instead of a thermostatic controller positioned in each room, temperatures in the various zones are set using the central DEVIlink panel.
"These are modern, luxury apartments and the Gaia system matches the design perfectly," says Joshua. "Nothing is visible - there are no wall radiators, no wall-mounted switches or dials. It's all very discreet and very efficient".
The apartments form the second phase of an ongoing development. Gaia's UFH systems were also used in the first phase and are expected to be specified for subsequent phases.
