New integrated cooling treatment launched

PRESS RELEASE: June 2015

New integrated cooling treatment & control system is a game changer

Green Compliance has launched a completely new and integrated cooling treatment and control system for use in commercial and industrial water systems. The first of its kind in the UK, the system comprises two elements: a GPRS linked Universal Compliance Monitor (UCM) for online reporting and an innovative new solid water treatment chemistry.

Incorporating dissolver boards which include scale and corrosion inhibitors and solid bromine, the system requires less space, eliminates chemical handling and supplies precision dosing of bromine at all times.

The use of dissolver boards eliminates any uncertainty around the accuracy of dosing levels, significantly reducing incidences of under and over dosing typically experienced in standard systems.

They have also enabled Green Compliance to completely redesign the feeder unit, replacing the large, difficult to handle drums currently used as standard in the industry, with a wall-mounted, transparent unit. This reduces the system's footprint and allows technicians to easily and accurately check feeder product levels via visual inspections.

Health and safety is enhanced as the dissolver boards and solid products do not emit dust when compared to the standard options during refilling. And, by removing the need to regularly open the unit during inspection programmes, Green Compliance has limited exposure to hazardous bromine dust further.

Designed to work under atmospheric pressure conditions, the system eliminates the risk of rupture of traditional brominator units. In addition, the feeder unit can be linked to multiple systems, rationalising inspection, maintenance and floor-space requirements. Importantly, this reduces water consumption and contamination as they do not require draining or isolation during the refilling process.

Linked to the UCM controller, the new system automatically logs and reports all crucial records and compliance data 24/7.

For wider water data capture and analysis, the UCM can then be linked to a Minimise Control and Monitoring System, Powered by Realtime Online, which provides real time, granular information on all aspects of water treatment and management. Using cloud based software, the Minimise Control and Monitoring System can be tailored to individual requirements and is an ideal tool to support water auditing and efficiency programmes. The wireless system, which is extensively used by facilities managers to drive sustainability modelling, can also be configured to provide real time condition, plant, energy and security monitoring.

Commenting on the launch of the new system, Mark Hodgkins, Green Compliance's M&E Director, said: "The disinfection of water systems has seen some significant change within the last two years. We recognised that the current system was unwieldy, difficult to manage, had a poor COSHH footprint and was difficult to control.

"New chemistry treatments provided the opportunity to take a fresh look at effective treatment. We believe that this new system will be extremely popular, replacing existing systems in a wide range of applications.

"Secondary disinfection of hot and cold water services is often employed to minimise the risk of legionella and other pathogenic bacteria, especially when temperature control has proven ineffective or there are ‘at risk' groups using the systems. Despite regular checks, there were opportunities for improvement and we believe this system delivers on these," he said.
