A Social landlord has joined forces with a wide range of organisations to help local businesses and their employees protect the health of workers.

As part of the Health and Safety Week, Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) hosted a free ‘drop in' event at its headquarters in Parker Court, Staffordshire Technology Park.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, the British Red Cross, Nuffield Health and a number of other organisations all took part in the event, which was delivered in partnership with the Institution of Safety and Health (IOSH).

Together with a number of specials companies, they offered free help and legal advice on key health and safety issues for both employers and employees.

Jo Hough, Assistant Director of Organisational Development commented: "At SARH we're committed to making Stafford and the surrounding area a better place to live and work, and local businesses have a key role to play in helping us achieve this goal.

"This successful event gave us the chance to meet with a number of local firms whilst raining awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy working environment.

"The feedback we've had from people who attended the event has been superb and the practical help and advice they received will not only improve the health of their employees but also provide a boost for their bottom line.

"Absenteeism through illness or accidents, not to mention the risk of falling foul of legislation or being subjected to an injury claim, can be a huge burden for business. By staging events such as this we hope to reduce that burden for local firms whilst improving the overall health of the communities we serve."
