"I was a corporate man, together with stock options and all, but I walked away and I don't regret it" -- C.Y Chong

In ‘Life on Planet WWF', Chiew Y. Chong offers a light-hearted look inside WWF and explores his time at one of the world's largest conservation organisations with activities in 100 countries on six continents, with more than five million supporters.

Chiew riffs on his 20 years at WWF in this most unusual memoir. Packed with vivid detail of the most entertaining and interesting events and experiences, Chong invites you to be part of his journey within this world-leading NGO.

Chong's book provides an intimate and humorous view of the global not-for-profit that will entertain as a "good read you can dip in and out of", while providing sufficient insider knowledge to further inform WWF devotees.

The anecdotes Chong relays are wildly unique; from close encounters with a ‘mad cow' to cocktails with HRH Prince Philip. As well as Royalty, Chong has, of course, been up close and personal with a wide range of rare creatures including an Archbishop, several Japanese samurai, bees, ants, belly dancers and many, many more.

"One could only wish to have been part of the journey as it occurred, a fly-on-the wall so to speak, or a travel companion perhaps. At the end of this wonderful tour du monde, one looks forward to a follow-up book."

Bob Bishop, Former CEO of Silicon Graphics

A breath of fresh air

Chiew left a prominent corporate career to start his work at WWF and his personal story provides a much-needed individuality in a sea of business-led memoir books, and is an inspirational read for anyone who believes there is more to life than share deals and the constant quest for profits.

About the author
Chiew Chong was born in Malaysia to Chinese parents. He was educated in Kuala Lumpur at a Jesuit-run high school. After high school he left Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Asia to study Accountancy. Once qualified as a chartered accountant, Chong began a career that led him to hold senior financial positions at multinationals across Europe and Asia. In 1991, Chong left his corporate career path and, almost accidentally, moved over to the WWF, which lead to a two-decade-long career as Financial Director at WWF, the world's largest conservation organisation.
