Farm shop launches end of season charity sportive

Such was the success of the inaugural William's Farm Kitchen ‘Falling Leaves' cycling sportive, that it will be repeated in 2015.

The ‘Ride of the falling leaves' takes place on 6thSeptember and offers a choice of 80k and 50k routes that start and finish at William's Farm Kitchen at Hornsea Freeport. The 80k route heads North-Westerly towards the Yorkshire Wolds for an undulating loop around Burton Agnes, Rudston and Kilham, whilst the 50k route avoids the undulating leg over the Yorkshire Wolds for a faster, flatter route. Both routes head back along winding country roads for refreshments and a hot drink at William's Farm Kitchen.

The Sportive is being held to raise valuable funds for Meningitis UK. Co-organiser of the Sportive and William's Farm Kitchen owner, Mark Farnsworth said: "Some years ago, one of the WFK team and his family were tragically affected by the meningitis disease. Since then, they have spent huge amounts of time tirelessly fund raising to help Meningitis UK to raise awareness of the disease in the hope that other families are aware of how the disease can change lives so quickly.

"We are really pleased to team up with them to put on this cycle challenge we hope to raise at least £1,000 for the charity. There is an option when you sign on to donate to the charity and the family would be chuffed to bits if you could support the charity."

The Sportive costs £20 to enter and includes William's Farm Kitchen's award winning flapjack at the feed station en route and pre and post event refreshments. The event is being organised by Paul Kilvington and Mark Farnsworth and entry is online atwww.sportsentrysolutions.co.uk/race_page.php?recordID=468.

William's Farm Kitchen is an award-winning farm shop, butchery and café with sites at Hornsea Freeport, Sledmere House and Tong Garden Centre.
