KOLARZ lights shine at the Shanghai Tower in sensational installation

KOLARZ, the leading Austrian lighting company, has just installed stunning handmade ceiling, wall and hanging lamps at the Shanghai Tower - China's highest skyscraper.

The brief was to create unique and magnificent feature lights for two extremely large function rooms. The client wanted very high quality lights to make a statement and add grandeur to this landmark skyscraper. The KOLARZ team worked closely with the New York and Shanghai interior designers on these two incredible light installations.

The budget for the Shanghai Tower project was €3 million which gives a sense of the size, the amount of work and the quality of the materials and expertise that went into creating these lights.

Sparkling Murano glass and futuristic chrome design

In the ballroom, and VIP room, 25,000 sparkling transparent Murano glass sticks, measuring about two metres in length, decorate 14 ceilings lamps, each of them five metres in diameter and weighing eight tons. The lights in the ballroom add glamour and opulence to this vast space and bring a sense of sophistication and warmth to the room.

In the multi-function room, which is the size of a football pitch, 32 futuristic chrome-fibreglass pendants decorate the ceiling of this massive room. In total Kolarz provided lights for 5000 square metres. These memorable lights create a focal point and add interest to this vast space.
