NEWS RELEASE:
Glenturret
Distillery recognised for Food & Drink Excellence
Glenturret
Distillery has been shortlisted at the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business
Star Awards 2015. Scotland’s oldest working distillery faces tough competition
in the Excellence in Food & Drink category, as it will now go head to head
with other local food & drink businesses for the title.
2015 is a big
year for the Crieff-based visitor attraction as Glenturret distillery
celebrates its 240th year of producing whisky ‘By Hand and By
Heart’. The shortlisting is another great achievement for the distillery,
having also recently been nominated for two Icons of Whisky Awards 2016.
In what has
been Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink, Glenturret has truly made its mark on
the whisky world, launching a limited edition malt, The Brock Malloy, which
sold out within weeks, as well as their Commonwealth Games 2014 Single Malt being
named in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.
Stuart
Cassells, the driving force behind Glenturret’s return to the limelight
commented:
“We’re thrilled
to have been nominated for this award, especially by our local Perthshire
business community. The category is so diverse but we hope that Glenturret gets
the recognition it deserves as the last remaining hand mashed whisky in
Scotland.
He continued:
“We’re looking forward to marking our 240th
birthday and to win the Business Star Award in the same month would be a
fantastic celebration for all those involved in Glenturret!”
The Business Star
Awards recognise the very best of local companies in Perthshire in what has
been an outstanding year for businesses of all sizes in the area. The winners
of this year’s awards will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony taking
place on 20th November at Crieff Hydro.
