Amphe-OBTS addresses the need for higher current in remote installations
Sidney, N.Y. October 2015 – Amphenol Industrial Products Group, a global leader in interconnect systems, has introduced an outdoor connector for use in harsh environments. This new optimised base transceiver station (OBTS) connector meets the increasing requirement for remote wireless radio power delivery.
Amphenol has reduced the weight of this field-installable connector by 30% and added improved passive inter-modulation (PIM) performance. It addresses the need for higher current that is being driven by modern high-performance remote installations. This rugged, IP67 rated connector is UL 1977 certified, IEC 61984 and IEC 60950 certified and has an operating temperature of -55°C to +105°C. Its compact, energy-efficient and UL qualified to 26 A.
Ideal for use in cell towers, wireless radios and wireless networks, Amphe-OBTS maintains the legacy and performance of the company’s original BTS, which provided power from a wireless, mast-mounted base station to a remote radio head. T
Amphe-OBTS is available in a standard 2-way 60 VDC power configuration, a 60 VDC 2-way reverse gender and a 3-way 400 VDC/250 VAC connector. Standard current for the two pole is 26 A per contact, whilst the three pole configuration supplies 16 A per contact.
This new connector has a zinc shell construction with tin/nickel plating, bayonet locking and 360° EMI shielding. It has plug with screw termination contacts for field installation and receptacle with crimp contacts.
