ADVANCE INFORMATION SHEET
Human Ritesby JJ Marsh
London wine merchant, Adrian Harvey, has lost his Christmas spirit. Someone is stalking him, stealing his post and vandalising his shop. He needs Beatrice Stubbs...
When the police question Adrian Harvey, after an anonymous tip-off, he's more than anxious, he's petrified. And who is that nun? He seizes his chance to ‘disappear' by joining neighbour and friend, DI Beatrice Stubbs, on a trip to Germany to investigate a series of art thefts. But wherever he travels, from the icy streets of Hamburg, to the canals of Amsterdam, and the snow swept beaches of Sylt, Beatrice and Adrian jointly discover how a virtue taken to extremes can lead to a deadly sin.
Human Rites is the fifth book in the Beatrice Stubbs series, each transporting you to a unique part of the world (Behind Closed Doors - set in Zürich, Raw Material - Wales, Tread Softly - Northern Spain, Cold Pressed - Santorini).
"Enthralling! The menace of Du Maurier meets the darkness and intrigue of Nordic Noir. Keep the lights on and your wits about you."Anne Stormont, author of Displacement.
About the Author
JJ Marsh (Jill) is a literary crime series writer (think Kate Atkinson meets Dorothy L. Sayers), inclusive indie publishing pioneer and founding member of Triskele Books. She is also Alliance of Independent Authors Ambassador for Switzerland, conference/events speaker, reviewer for Bookmuse, co-editor of The Woolf (Zürich's arts quarterly) and contributor to Words with JAM literary magazine. When not reading, writing or reviewing books, Jill works in language and culture training in Zurich, Switzerland. She grew up in Wales, Africa and the Middle East, where her curiosity for culture took root and triggered an urge to write. A degree in English Literature and Theatre from the University of Wales (BA Joint Hons), led her to a series of associated professions including theatre company founder and director (qualified via the Central School of Speech and Drama), EFL trainer (RSA Dip.), teacher trainer, accredited journalist, actor, teacher, writer, director, editor, journalist and cultural trainer all over Europe.
Media Opportunities
"Crime writing can be more than graphic violence, and female characters can have a more integral role than dead prostitute," argues crime series writer JJ Marsh. "Crime fiction is crying out for more strong, believable female characters." As a founding member of Triskele Books, JJ is well placed to discuss indie publishing, female unity in literature, author collectives, as well as her unique and hugely popular style of crime writing with a "lighter, less gruesome touch" (as described by The Bookseller).
