WOMEN CAN BREAK THROUGH
THE GLASS CEILING IF
THEY HAVE THE CONFIDENCE!
Confidence4Women Launched To Help Women
Get Ahead In Business
Women have been brainwashed for decades into thinking they have to reinvent themselves as alpha males if they want to get ahead in business
Now a new academy has been set up specifically for women: Confidence4Women, to prove that, with the right training, women can melt the glass ceiling - they don't have to smash a hole in it.
The founder of Confidence4Women is Valentine Palmer, with 40 years' experienceas TV actor (Dr Who, Emmerdale) and presentation trainer (Barclays, NHS). He believes that ambitious women have been fooled into believing that the only way they can compete with men in the workplace is to be even more aggressive and dominant.
He said: "Women in business can so easily get sucked in a destructive downward spiral, rapidly losing confidence as they attempt to play a role they are not naturally suited for and then they end up stuck in jobs they hate but lacking the confidence to move on. The result is still a pitifully small number of women working at board level."
The latest research from the US universities Princeton and Brigham Young show that men talk 75% of the time during meetings. To counteract this Confidence4Women's courses are specifically aimed at ensuring that women can gain and hold attention in groups with a predominantly male presence.
For example, one woman who has succeed in that most male-dominated of environments, the military is Jo Salter, the first woman pilot to fly supersonic missions in Iraq who is now an internationally recognised motivational speaker.
She said: "I found the way that Valentine Palmer coached me in my role as a professional speaker absolutely invaluable. His vast knowledge of voice and presentation skills helped me to swiftly overcome my speech defect and build total confidence in my material."
Confidence4Women's training courses, available on video, in books and at live events, are based on the simple premise that having real confidence means acquiring the physical skills and mental attitudes that ensure that a woman can enter a room like a duchess and not a waitress. Valentine Palmer claims that his training is specifically designed to help any woman feel so at ease with herself that she won't even have to think of trying to beat men at their own game.
Confidence4Women offers courses on video, in 1-2-1 sessions and live workshops covering all major areas of personal communication skills, including voice, presentation, writing skills and relationships with prices starting at just £60. Corporate training packages are also available, bespoke designed to a company's particular requirements. All the courses can be ordered from the website:www.confidence4women.com
Says Valentine Palmer: "I have been training people to have confidence in themselves for over 15 years and I started C4W when I realised that 70% of my voice and presentation training clients were women. Clearly they needed more help - and delivered as a stress- free solution to building up their confidence. Rather than trying to play the role of the arrogant alpha male, real confidence for a woman is knowing how to be a star - in the role she was born to play."
