Artisan food business marks first birthday with distributor appointment

A Thixendale, North Yorkshire based premium rapeseed oil business has appointed a distributor as its first year of trading ends.

Charlie & Ivy's director, Adam Palmer chose The Cress Company to extend distribution of its dipping oils and mayonnaise outside its Yorkshire heartland after meeting the team at the Farm Shop and Deli exhibition earlier this year.

Of the partnership, Mr Palmer said: "The Cress Company is a country wide distributor which gives us great scope to get the Charlie & Ivy's range stocked in farm shops and delis nationwide.

"We are really excited to have secured this listing with them and we look forward to growing the business together."

The Cress Company's buyer,Nikki Castleyis equally pleased with the relationship: "Charlie & Ivy's is a refreshing new brand with exciting flavour combinations and fabulous packaging. It complements our existing portfolio of artisan brands very well and we're very confident that it will sell well."

  3. Adam and Jennie Palmer established award-winning Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil in 2008. With a team of close family and friends, they press, bottle and label their own oil at North Breckenholme Farm in Thixendale, North Yorkshire. The 200-acre farm is also home to 600 breeding ewes.

  4. All the rapeseed pressed for the Charlie & Ivy's range is grown on the farm or in the surrounding area on the chalky Wolds soil. The Natural Rapeseed Oil is cold-pressed once only which means no chemicals are used in the extraction of the oil from the seed, ensuring the best quality product is bottled. It contains half the saturated fat and 11 times the omega 3 of olive oil, as well as being a good source of omega 6 and 9. Charlie & Ivy's rapeseed oil is GM free.
