Double Win for Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate at Cornwall Tourism Awards

Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate near St Ives has been awarded Gold in the Large Hotel of the Year and Silver in the Venue and Business Tourism category of the Cornwall Tourism Awards which took place on the 12^thNovember.

The Cornwall Tourism Awards, which were held last night in Newquay, are the official tourism awards for the county, celebrating the best tourism businesses in Cornwall.

The ‘Venue and Business Tourism' category recognises businesses who have an outstanding wedding and special occasions offering, alongside an innovative approach to hosting corporate and business events.

The ‘Large Hotel of the Year' category celebrates excellence in hotels of 35 bedrooms or more, and has especially high standards due to the extremely competitive nature of the category - meaning this year just two hotels were shortlisted as finalists.

Stephen Baker, owner of Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate is thrilled, saying:

"We are delighted to have been awarded a Gold and Silver award in the Cornwall Tourism Awards. Entries came from all over the county, representing the very best of businesses in our region. It is an honour to have been recognised."

Robin Barker, organiser of the Cornwall Tourism Awards stated:

"It is fantastic to see Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate achieve recognition at the Cornwall Tourism Awards. They are of such a standard that their mystery shopper emphasised their ‘very hard to beat wow factor!' It is great that they have been able to represent Cornwall and leave with two awards."

The awards also form the heat of the South West Tourism Excellence Awards and the national VisitEngland awards; Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate will now be considered for the shortlist and will hope to compete with businesses from all over the country.

This recognition follows a run of success – with Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate also receiving accolades at the Good Spa Guide Awards for ‘Best Spa for Romance’ and the Western Morning News Business Awards for ‘Best Tourism or Hospitality Business’ this week.
