SterlingOSB - a name that means value for money

74% of builders and 60% of builders' merchants agree
that the SterlingOSB name represents good value

SterlingOSB, Norbord's market-leading oriented-strand board product, not only enjoys a reputation among builders and their suppliers for quality and reliability; it is also considered excellent value, according to recent research.

A study carried out on behalf of Norbord has found that 74% of builders and 60% of builders' merchants agree that the SterlingOSB name represents good value.

Made at Norbord's factory in Inverness using wood fibre sourced from local forests, SterlingOSB represents an extremely efficient use of raw materials. Because the basic raw material is sourced locally, transport and fuel costs are very low. Furthermore, the wood used to make SterlingOSB comes from forest ‘thinnings' - the spindly trees thinned from the timber plantations to give the bigger trees space to grow. Thinnings are abundant and cheap, meaning that the price of SterlingOSB is always competitive.

Low material and transport costs mean fewer costs to pass on to the customer. Even the energy used to make the board is largely generated by Norbord's own on-site biomass plant, burning process residues - a waste by-product.

While efficient production and delivery means better value for the customer, SterlingOSB does not compromise on quality.
