A subsidiary of a local housing association is set to bring its high quality home improvement and maintenance works expertise to a wider range of customers after achieving two significant construction trade accreditations.
Housing Worx was established in 2012 by Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) and carries out a wide range of home improvements, refurbishments and maintenance on behalf of the social landlord.
Now it looks set to strengthen its position as the area's leading contractor after meeting the standards set by Contractors Health and Safety (CHAS) and Constructionline.
Steve Garland, Assistant Director of Housing Worx, commented: "This is a major step forward for us as we can now tender for a wide range of work from other housing associations, housebuilders and private customers.
"Along with many other potential customers they can benefit from the expertise we've acquired by fitting hundreds of kitchens and bathrooms as part of an extensive upgrade of housing stock managed by SARH."
To date, Housing Worx has installed more than 520 kitchens and 460 bathrooms, alongside other works, including fitting doors, electrical testing and re-wiring, cyclical painting, structural works and laying hard standings for parking and footpaths.
To achieve CHAS and Constructionline accreditations Housing Worx needed to submit detailed breakdowns of its health and safety policies and practices before undergoing rigorous inspections.
Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive, commented: "We are delighted at this industry recognition for Housing Worx, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years.
"As it is now able to tender for work from a wide range of potential customers, it will play an increasingly important role in the future success of Stafford and Rural Homes.
"At the same time, SARH customers have the additional peace of mind that any refurbishments to their home will be carried out by contractors that meet the very highest industry standards."
