Bower and Bailey's Katie Went cycles to Paris in support of Diabetes Charity
Katie Went, a partner at the Swindon branch of law firm, Bower & Bailey, embarked on a six-day cycle ride to Paris in support of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Joining Katie from the Swindon business community were 13 friends on bikes and two people in support vans. The group began its tour on Tuesday 9 September. Having cycled to Dover and taken the ferry to Calais, the riders followed a route through Arras and Compiègne to Paris.
When the partner of one of her friends was diagnosed with diabetes, it was suggested to ride to Paris to raise money. With £4,200 already raised online they, are hoping to surpass their target of £8,000.

After suffering for years with a long-term knee injury, Katie reluctantly took up cycling to stay fit. With the support of her partner, also a keen cyclist, she soon started enjoying the sport.
Commenting on the challenge, Katie said: "We trained hard for a year and we're well on the way to raising meaningful funds for JDRF. Having trained for half marathons in Cardiff, Gloucester and Bath, this was much harder and more time-consuming than I anticipated. Bower & Bailey have been extremely generous, knowing that the money will be going to people who really need it."
At Bower & Bailey, Katie specialises in all aspects of family breakdown, with emphasis on the financial consequences. A trained collaborative lawyer, she was instrumental in setting up a regional branch of Resolution for Wiltshire and Gloucestershire (now North Wilts) and has been its treasurer ever since.
