Aerial Imaging Solutions captures aerial footage of £10million UTC Swindon site
Stuart Holland, founder and director of Aerial Imaging Solutions, the leading aerial photography, video and thermal imaging company, has recorded an aerial fly-through video of the UTC Swindon site.
Certified by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to capture the beauty of iconic buildings, Stuart is one of few pilots authorised to fly unmanned video aircraft and use thermal imaging equipment.
The stunning film will give potential students of UTC Swindon and their parents unique, behind-the-scenes views inside UTC Swindon. Footage includes many hard-to-reach areas of the Grade II Listed building, which is part of the original Great Western Rail works.
To make the video, Stuart used a custom-built 550mm hexcopter, fitted with a small, lightweight, high definition camera. He flew the hexcopter from a bespoke ground operating station using piloting skill and complex onboard algorithms. The device, which uses GPS (global positioning system), can also follow pre-programmed flight paths.
Discussing the film, Stuart said: “Complying with CAA regulations, we were able to create stunning footage of UTC Swindon’s site. It is a building with many interesting features, but due to the neighbouring structures space was limited, making it a perfect location for a hexcopter. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to create a video that will give students an insight into the great facilities at UTC Swindon.”
UTC Swindon principal, Angela Barker-Dench, said: “Stuart’s hexcopter is an incredible machine. He used it with great skill to create an amazing promotional tool for UTC Swindon.”
The UTC Swindon site creates a link between the historic engineering and the engineering future of the local area, with the Old School Building and the iconic Water Tower featuring prominently.
Stuart has also filmed promotional videos for the ice hockey team, Swindon Wildcats, and Castles Estate Agents. He can also film special events such as weddings.
Based in Wiltshire, Stuart founded Aerial Imaging Solutions in 2014, three years after establishing Thermographic Consultancy in 2011.
