MexImport a sensation at Selfridges
MexImport, the specialist importer and distributor of quality Mexican food and drink, is causing a sensation at Selfridges.
The company is giving tastings of authentic Mexican food at the department store’s Foodhalls in London, Birmingham and Manchester, where 43 of its lines are on sale until 17 May.
The tastings are part of Selfridges’ Year of Mexico in the UK celebrations.
Customers to Selfridges are being treated to guacamole, made freshly by the MexImport team, with avocados, lime and a pinch of Terana Mexican Oregano which is available through www.meximport.co.uk. MexImport is promoting the health benefits of Ahuacatlan avocado oil, which, thanks to its high smoke point, is absorbed by foods in lower quantities than other cooking oils.
The company is offering samples of El Yucateco hot sauces with Poco Loco tortilla chips and cactus salad with Azteca nopales. MexImport is also presenting Las Catrinas chillies, the Terana range of spices and Kante Dark & Amber agave nectar.
Speaking of the tastings, Katya Torres de la Rocha, CEO of MexImport, said: “These events have given people a wonderful opportunity to experience the rich variety of flavours and colours of Mexican foods. From the reactions we’ve had and the questions people have asked, it’s clear people in the UK love Mexican food and drink. We’re delighted that Selfridges, one of the UK’s most iconic retailers, is showing so much support and joining us as we celebrate the Year of Mexico in the UK.”
MexImport supplies products from across the whole of Mexico. Ahuacatlan, in the west of the country, supplies 47 per cent of the world’s avocados, while the agave plant, from which Kante is produced, originates from the Tequila region. El Yucateco has its own annatto fields in the Yucatan Peninsula near the Gulf of Mexico.
MexImport also supplies the Tequila Herencia, Cerveza Ocho Reales and Laterra Artisan Harvest brands.
Many of these products are available in UK shops, including Selfridges.
MexImport’s tastings at Selfridges Foodhalls continue with events in Manchester on 21 April, 9 May and 15 May, Birmingham on 26 April and 9 May and London on 2 May and 13 May.
MexImport’s full product range includes sauces, marinades, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, herbs and spices, cooking oils and agave. The company distributes directly to delicatessens, farm shops and market-leading multiples in the UK and Europe.
