Katya Torres de la Rocha named Mexico-UK Entrepreneur of the Year

Katya Torres de la Rocha, CEO of mexgrocer.co.uk, has been named Mexico-UK Entrepreneur of the Year by the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain. The award was made at the Chamber's third annual Gala Dinner on Monday 25 November 2013 at 8 Northumberland Avenue in central London.

The black tie event was attended by the Mexican Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland, HE Diego Gomez Pickering. The focus of the event was to recognise people and businesses whose work enhances the relationship between the UK and Mexico.

The Mexico-UK Entrepreneur of the Year award highlights "outstanding medium size companies whose innovative strategies have catapulted them to a higher level." After receiving the award, Katya spoke to the event's 150 guests about the new business ventures, including franchising opportunities, being introduced by mexgrocer.co.uk.

These include the launch of mexgrocer.no, the company's new online retailer in Norway, which is due to go live in January 2014. mexgrocer.no is a significant development for the company and represents the start of a Europe-wide franchising campaign. mexgrocer.co.uk is confident that its Norwegian website will have the same impact as its UK counterpart, which has been featured in publications such as The Independent and The Times in their 50 Best Food Websites in the UK lists.

The company specialises in selling and distributing Mexican food products rarely available in UK and European supermarkets. Food supplied by mexgrocer.co.uk is imported directly from Mexico and shipped in the company's own containers. Mexgrocer.co.uk turns around customer orders from its Luton warehouse in 24 hours.
