mexgrocer.co.uk's Katya Torres nominated for LUKAS Award

Katya Torres, CEO of mexgrocer.co.uk, has been nominated for Business Personality of the Year at the LUKAS Awards 2014.

The LUKAS Awards, now in their third year, are the only awards to recognise the contribution of Britain's one million Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese residents.

The nomination acknowledges Katya's work in developing mexgrocer.co.uk into an international brand and establishing Mexican food as a firm favourite in the UK. In recent months mexgrocer.co.uk has launched its store on Amazon.co.uk, been voted one of The Times Top 50 Food Sites and listed as one of the best suppliers in The Independent's 50 Best Food Websites. In January 2014, the company's first overseas franchise was launched in Norway.

November 2013 saw Katya named Mexico-UK Entrepreneur of the Year by the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain. The award was made at the Chamber's third annual Gala which was attended by the Mexican Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland, HE Diego Gomez Pickering. The focus of the event was to recognise people and businesses whose work enhances the relationship between the UK and Mexico.

The LUKAS 2014 gala ceremony will be held at KOKO at Camden Town, London on Wednesday 30 April 2014 and will be broadcast in Latin America.
